When it comes to the live profile on PixuJob, our aim is to have centennials upload images that best describe themselves and showcase who they are. We know that ‘a picture tells a thousand words’ and Pixujob has been created to reinforce to centennials to #beyourself.
Images help us learn, grab attention, explain tough concepts and inspire. Humans are visual, with over 50 percent of the human brain dedicated to visual processing. When individuals see a picture, we analyse it within a short period of time and know the meaning behind it. Recently, we have had the privilege to present to year 10 and 11 students in schools to showcase Pixujob. We discussed the footprint that is being created for their future through social media and the importance of positive imagery in searching for and applying for jobs.
So if we think about PixuJob’s live profiles, when an employer is looking at hundreds of written resumes, all with similar qualities, how can you stand out? With a live profile full of images, you can grab the attention of the employer for two reasons:
1. It differentiates your application to others, helping you to stand out; and
2. It shows the employer who you are in an authentic way.
Self-image is important because how we think about ourselves affects how we feel about ourselves and how we interact with others and the world around us. We know that a positive self-image can boost our physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Once you have downloaded PixuJob, think about what images you are using, how this opportunity can affect the way that others see you and, most importantly, the impact the use of positive images can have on your potential employer.
